Company Name Reservation in Pakistan

Reserving a company name with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) is the first step in the company registration process. Only after securing name approval can the applicant proceed with incorporation.

Step 1: Log in to SECP e-Services

To begin, the applicant must:

  • Visit SECP’s e-Services portal and log in to an existing account or sign up if registering for the first time.

Step 2: Enter Required Information

After logging in, the applicant is directed to the Process Listing Page, where only the Company Name Reservation process will be available initially.

The applicant must fill out the required details in the name reservation form and click “Continue” to proceed.

Key Fields in the Form:

  1. Proposed Company Name
    • Enter the desired company name without adding terms like Pvt. Ltd., Ltd., or LLP.
    • Click “Name Availability Search” to check if the name is available.
  2. Company Type
    • Select the appropriate company type from the drop-down list (e.g., Private Limited, Single Member, Public Limited, LLP, etc.).
    • Each company type has specific requirements regarding ownership, directors, and structure.
  3. Bank Branch Selection
    • Choose a designated bank branch from the list provided.
    • This bank will be used to submit the official fee via a challan form.
    • Use the “Locate Bank option to find an available branch.
  4. Applicant Information
    • Enter personal details, including:
      • Full Name
      • CNIC/NICOP/Passport Number
      • Contact Number & Email
      • Residential Address

 

Step 3: Attach Required Documents

Once all required details are filled in, the applicant is directed to a new page where they must:

  • Attach any supporting documents in PDF format (unless another format is specified).
  • Upload the Bank Challan receipt after paying the fee at the selected bank branch.

Important Links in this Section:

  • View Company Name Reservation Form – Allows applicants to review and modify details before submission.
  • Attach New Document – Upload supporting documents such as proof of payment.
  • Attach New Bank Challan – Upload the challan form after payment at the bank.

Note: It is mandatory to print four copies of the Bank Challan:

  1. Three copies for submission at the designated bank branch.
  2. One copy to be kept as a record by the applicant.

 

Step 4: Submit the Name Reservation Application

After completing the form and document attachments, the final step is to submit the application to SECP:

  1. Click “Sign Form” (this option will only be enabled after mandatory attachments are uploaded).
  2. Enter the PIN Code and click “Apply User PIN” (this will auto-fill the required field).
  3. Click “Submit Process to SECP” to complete the process.

Step 5: Track the Application Status

Once submitted, the applicant is redirected to the Process Listing Page, where they can check the status of their application.

 

Important Sections on the Process Listing Page:

  1. List of Available Processes – Displays processes the applicant can access.
  2. List of Processes Awaiting Response – Shows applications requiring additional information or modifications.
  3. List of Unavailable Processes – Lists processes already in progress for reference.

Final Notes

  • SECP reviews the name reservation request and either approves or rejects it based on availability and compliance with naming rules.
  • If rejected, the applicant can modify the name and resubmit the request.
  • If approved, the reserved name is valid for 60 days, during which the applicant must complete the company incorporation process.
