Barrister Ahsan J. Pirzada is a Partner at Mohmand Pirzada with over a decade of experience. He is actively engaged in both advisory and litigation roles, specializing in constitutional, civil, commercial, public procurement, energy, and tax-related matters before all Superior Courts of Pakistan.

Since commencing his legal career in 2012, Barrister Pirzada has provided strategic counsel and robust representation to multinational corporations, financial institutions, governmental bodies, and regulatory authorities. His clientele includes the Competition Commission of Pakistan, Election Commission of Pakistan, Federal Board of Revenue, NEPRA, Ministry of Railways, and prominent corporate entities such as the Dawood Group, Bank of Punjab, Oracle Systems, Gray Mackenzie Restaurants International Ltd., JDW, Reliance Corporation, Townhouse Hotel and Fauji Power Ltd.

In 2024, Barrister Pirzada was co-opted as a member of the Task Force on Anti-Corruption Laws, formed under the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Stand-by Arrangements, where he played a pivotal role in drafting reforms for Pakistan’s anti-corruption framework.

His expertise extends to advising clients on matters involving the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), and public procurement laws. Notably, he has advised on high-profile tenders and led advisory services for the Ministry of Railways regarding the “Railway Automated Booking and Travel Assistance” system.

In addition to his professional practice, Barrister Pirzada is an accomplished academic, having contributed significantly to legal scholarship. He co-authored “The Ongoing Crisis in the Sugar Industry: The Implications of Legislation and a Need for Deregulation”, a multidisciplinary analysis of Pakistan’s sugar industry regulation and its adverse implications, published under the Research for Social Transformation and Advancement (RASTA) program. He also authored “Investigating the Procedural, Institutional, and Circumstantial Impediments Leading to the Delay in Dispensation of Justice,” a comprehensive study exploring delays in Pakistan’s justice system and proposing viable reforms.

Before joining Mr. Sikandar Bashir Mohmand (ASC) and starting the firm, namely Mohmand Pirzada Advocates and Corporate Counsel, as a partner in 2023, Barrister Pirzada founded and managed Jamal & Jamal Advocates and Corporate Consultants, where he advised major energy sector clients such as Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Limited and Fauji Power Company Limited. He was also engaged by the Japan International Cooperation Agency and the Board of Investment to improve legal frameworks for Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones.

Barrister Pirzada holds a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours from the United Kingdom and an LLM in International Banking and Finance Law from University College London. He also completed his Bar Professional Training Course at City University, London, and is a lifetime member of the Honourable Society of Inner Temple.
